Every roof we build is a great story to tell. Each person enjoying the comfort of their new space could tell you the great impact it has on their lives, but the impact is even bigger when those who will utilise the transformed space do not have a shelter of their own. Louvre House had the pleasure of transforming a space for Hutt St Centre, to be enjoyed by the people they support daily.
Building a Better Space
The Hutt St Centre is a not-for-profit located in Adelaide renowned for its relentless efforts to support those experiencing homelessness. Starting almost 70 years ago, Hutt St Centre is a place for connection and support for people experiencing homelessness.
With more and more people facing homelessness, in a housing and cost of living crisis, Hutt St Centre wanted to transform one of their outdoor spaces, crucial for their day-to-day activities, into a year-round usable space. The answer was more than clear – an opening and closing louvre roof was needed.
The project started late April and a couple of weeks later they were already enjoying the great benefits of a versatile space. Our team took immense pride in ensuring every detail of the roof was perfect from manufacture to finish. The end result? A robust, stylish, and highly functional outdoor space that provides a safe and welcoming environment for everyone who walks through their doors.
Impacting Lives
The new roof is more than just a structural addition; it’s a gateway to improved wellbeing for those using the Hutt St Centre’s services. With this new system, those who are facing difficult times will now be able to enjoy this space regardless of the weather conditions. It allows the opportunity to take a moment to relax and breathe, shielded from the harsh sun or unexpected rain, while allowing the Centre to assist more people daily.
For individuals rebuilding their lives, having access to safe and protected spaces can significantly impact their journey toward what Hutt St Centre calls “homefulness”—a sense of security, stability, and control.
